« on: May 14, 2018, 06:44:49 am »
I heard of guys wearing women's perfumes and I was surprised but it got me interested, does anyone wear women's perfumes and if so which ones would you recommend for fall/winter?

I'm a woman who has used a couple of unisex fragrances. Once in a while it's ok for a man to wear that but I have always been attracted to men who smell of traditional colognes (leather, musk, earthy green notes, chypre). There are many unisex fragrances available and you can do a search on Fragrantica by checking "male" "female" "shared". I don't normally wear unisex and prefer my woman's perfumes, which are strong in floral or a mixture of aldehydes, green notes and fruit notes. I find men's fragrances to be warmer, darker, earthier, and woody. Some fragrances I've smelt on men that I don't mind (that can also be worn by women) include

Elizabeth Taylor Passion

There is a men's line of this one but I have smelt the woman's version on men. It's smoky, rich, dark and strong on Oriental scents of flowers and spices. Because it's very strong and cologne-ish it can be worn by men.

Pierre Balmain Ivoire de Balmain

It has no flowers or fruits and is composed of mostly green notes chypre herbal leaves and autumnal moods. When I first smelt it and got used to it enough to be able to describe it I had a vision of designer Pierre Balmain as a little boy, hair style gel to slick his hair back, a dark suit and tie, dress shoes and joining his parents in a town car to a relatives funeral in the rain during autumn with falling leaves of brown and gold. This is an earthy scent that smells like good green soap. It's classified as a woman's perfume but it's really more unisex.

L`Artisan Parfumeur Voleur de Roses

Dark red rose, but mostly woodsy and earthy. Read the descriptions from the reviews. This is a mysterious, rich, romantic, but strong unisex fragrance. I have only sampled it once and I have not tried it but it's my next purchase. This is such a masterpiece. I can't wait to try it. It's perfect for dates and formal events (suit and tie or tuxedo) and if you care for culture - the opera, the ballet, the theater, the symphony. This is like something a vampire man would smell of. It's intellectual, brooding, deep and melancholic. It's for a novelist/writer. I would recommend this one to you if you're looking for a "masculine" fragrance that can still be worn by a classy and sensitive woman. A classy woman doesn't care if the fragrance is either male or female. She wears whatever feels great and whatever she loves and wants to wear. The same sentiment should apply to guys. A man wears what feels great and smells great for him. If yo want to wear a fragrance specifically to attract a woman there are other specific fragrances/colognes just for that.
